Unions in South Africa -received via e-mail
The Unions in South Africa are running the country, not the government anymore because what they say goes and they teach everybody that when you want something you must strike and insist people must do anything to get what they want. The representative say “we demand”, when they talk to the media.
The strikers are very violent , each and every time the strike they damage property, throwing stones at truck s and cars, killing people , and the leaders are sitting in their offices and watching the news and they are feeling so proud about what is happening on the street , while are people struggling on the street. The leaders’ children are at private schools and study after finishing matric – they go overseas , while their parents continue to intimidate people and encourage our fellow South African to damage the little we have as a country.
Each time there is a strike in South Africa we must calculate the cost of the damage that will occur while the union members are on strike and all the costs must be the responsibility for the unions. They must pay for the damage, the people on the ground do what the union says and at the end of the day, the workers lose their salaries and the leaders get their full pay at the end of the month.
As an example with the teacher strike for last year , they are getting penalized now because from January to March they will have 3 days pay deducted in each month to cover the salaries from last year because they were paid full while they on strike but now the suffer the consequences because of VAVI.
And on Monday, they hit the son of an owner of a business and he is now closing the company – this will increase unemployment, but still the leaders don’t give the country what it needs. They still get their fat salaries every month
We must start to realize that a strike in not a solution for everything – it is just a waste of time, I can guarantee you that if the union wants 20% and the company offers 15% the settlement will be 16.5% and the union will not always get what they want , because what they want is irrelevant is only suitable for certain people not for everybody , they must take their mind out of the box and think broad - it is not easy for a company to give everybody what they want, otherwise the company will be bankrupt .and if we continue the talk about banning labour brokers the country will become like Zimbabwe.
